Saving Money and Your Family
Growing up I never really learned a lot about how to be financially smart I just heard “Save your money, don’t blow it.” Even in school the best way to make money was always learn enough so that you can make enough. But what does that do? Doesn’t that just make you a slave to save, save, save or earn, earn, earn. And all so that you can remain happy. Truth is we are not called to do either. We are called take our earnings and use them to secure our families and bless others. Notice my wording, secure. Not enrich or to embellish, but to give them a footing of security to bless others with their lives. We often make excuses to why we need a 4th bedroom or couple more square feet, but at what cost?
After 3 years of marriage I have learned so much more about being financially responsible because my family needs me to be. Even though when the conversation comes up I want to squash the hard talks and go onto something else I know it has to be said and has to be done. If you feel inadequate to have those talks and unsure of where to go I think your in a better place than those that jump to the occasion. Because in your weakness God can mold you and move you to the outcome that is best for your lot. Seek His will for your finances, ask Him if the things that you see as a burden are actually just opportunities to enrich the lives of people in your influence.
I didn’t want to write a post that says the things that I learned, spend less, earn more because that is not the Truth. The Truth is ask God what your family needs to be secure, and how you can use the rest to bless the lives of others.
