Being a true servant

Being a true servant

(Got this great word from a friend today. Taken from 1 Peter 5:5b-7) All of you, put on an apron of humility. But don’t put it on the outside where everyone can see that you are a servant. Put it under all your clothes, closest to the most real, intimate parts of who you are, [...]

Saving Money and Your Family

Saving Money and Your Family

Growing up I never really learned a lot about how to be financially smart I just heard “Save your money, don’t blow it.” Even in school the best way to make money was always learn enough so that you can make enough. But what does that do? Doesn’t that just make you a slave to save, save, save or earn, earn, earn. And all so that you can remain happy. Truth is we are not called to do either.

George Muller – Seeking the will of God

George Muller – Seeking the will of God

A friend passed along some information from a book she was reading about George Muller, Evangelist and Director of the Ashley Down orphanage in Bristol, England, cared for 10,024 orphans in his life. Learning to see again

Learning to see again

Over the past couple weeks I have begun to see things in a new way. The suns a little brighter, faces are a little sweeter and life is a little fuller.

For those of you that don’t know, I had pink eye for over two weeks. Most people get rid of it within days, but me well as a friend told me “Sean, you gotta take everything to the extreme!” My eye Dr. says it’s a textbook case and day after day it progressed. There were times when we weren’t sure if my vision would come back and moments of pure fear. I can’t say that I was joyful through it all but in the darkness of my gauze filled days I learned to see clear again.

Church Branding and Steve Jobs

Church Branding and Steve Jobs

I received this video today from somebody on twitter. Its about branding at the core of the discussion but it hits on a major issue that is effecting the church as a whole, people don’t know what your about. They know what your not about, and maybe even if you did a good job of making your point, why your not about it. But you don’t hear major organizations ever speak about what they don’t do on the average. Jobs says “Hey, we only get so long to tell them who we are”. Is that ever been more relevant than in the church?
